Holy Crap I Can't Believe June is Over

In order to be consistent with the past Project Spectrum months, I give you my blue photo mosaic. I am a bit bummed that I forgot to take a snapshot of my postcard for the month...oh well. Hope you all have a great holiday weekend!!

All in the Name of Candy

Because a friend can't stand to see a friend get flaked. My friend Splatgirl sent me this awesome package of candy because I still haven't heard from my candy pal. This package comes complete with a baseball bank, wax lips and candy lipstick. Now that I've photographed it, I can dig in....
Thanks Splatgirl!!!!! You da bomb.

Dog Butts

First, my dog's butt on my new craft room rug. That little scar on his hip has been there since we got him at 13 weeks old. I think Casey likes the new shag.

This is the second dog butt in my craft room. It's a dog butt hook from IKEA, $1.99. It holds my sock knitting bag that Super eggplant made for me, Tooth Carrie.

There are 3 more dog butts in my house. Casey's leashes, collars and paw rags hang on them inside the back door. I *heart* dog butts.

Saturday Sky

Professional sky watcher Sandy started a new Saturday blog-a-long, Saturday Sky. Great idea Sandy!
We are in the middle of a thunderstorm watch so my sky is a bit cloudy & gray today. It was also sprinkling when I took this one.

Just Fluff

Not a whole lot going on here crafty wise. I've been getting ready for my family to visit, you know, all those things you mean to do and never get around to them until someone's coming. Not huge stuff but time consuming. I finally planted some flowers this week. I hit the flower mart on their 1st day of the 1/2 off sale! I planted a star jasmine right outside the door, it smells SO good. I might go back for a few more things.

I'm going for a 1 1/2 hour massage after work today so I'm expecting to be worthless this evening. Kinda like a wet noodle. We'll see...maybe I'll have enough energy to knit a little bit.

Isn't it interesting how Casey plays with balls? He always holds something in his mouth while batting a ball with his paws...a bit like soccer. He's really a kook.

Blog Friends Rock

Mariko, one of my dearest blog friends, sent me a fun package all the way from Oregon with these otamas tucked inside. One of the otamas is headed over to Splatgirl's new house, aren't they cute? It sure was nice going to the mailbox and seeing a little box tucked inside with my name on it. She also included some chocolate but I haven't eaten any yet...tomorrows goal...
ThAnK yOu MaRiKo!!!!

And for a little fun (Splatgirl, you'll appreciate this). Be sure to move the mouse at different speeds and click too. Link from princessliak.

Velodrome

Every Thursday night in Blaine, MN there are bike races at the Velodrome. We went last week and had a nice time sitting outside in the perfect weather. It's an interesting venue, one of only a handfull in the US and only 70 worldwide.

I'm back in town after a weekend of motorcycle races...needless to say, I'm pooped out and have knit only a few stiches. Hopefully I'll get back in the groove by the end of the week so you have something interesting to read.

My New Toy

I took advantage of the Jo-Ann 40% off online coupon and ordered myself a swift!!! Lightning fast shipping too, I ordered it at noon on Monday and I had it in the mail Wednesday afternoon. Now I have to find time to actually wind some yarn. This weekend we're headed north for motorcycle races...

Happy 16th Anniversary Chris & Paula!

Bye Bye Blue

Today my parents sold the house I grew up in, the blue house. It's a little sad but they're on to bigger and better things. I guess this falls into Project Spectrum blue June doesn't it?

Obviously this photo is not current, it is NOT snowing here contrary to what you might think is typical Minnesota weather! ;-)

I Spy ___ in the Rear Window

Over time I've been taking note of what I see in people's rear car windows. Personally I think it's crazy to put anything in the rear window, what's the point? In order to reach anything you have to have the flexibility of a ballerina and plus, everything gets faded from the sun. Which reminds me...back when I was maybe 5 or 6 I left a handful of crayons in my mom's back window while we ran into the grocery store. I bet you know what happened. Yep, they melted all nice and pretty right into the rear speakers of her '76 Oldsmobile.

Here's a list of what I've seen lately:

*A full size yellow pages
*A row of 6 baseball caps
*Full size box of Kleenex
*Beanie Babies
*2 Straw Hats
*Auto Manual
*Sun Shade
*Architectural drafts
*Fake Flowers, it may have been a wedding bouquet

What have you spy-ed in a rear window?

Big Big Blue Project

Welcome to my craft room!!
I'm finally willing to come clean about the big project I've been working on. I painted and reorganized my craft room starting Memorial Day weekend, it's still not entirely complete but very close. I bought a new desk & chair at IKEA to use as a sewing table. Most of my yarn is on the far side of the desk and I can pull out my cutting table when I need it.

The frame around this window still needs new paint and the cord for the lamp needs to be tucked away. I haven't decided on window treatments so I'm not even worried about when they'll be finished, maybe I don't even need any.?.?

Adding the shelves to the north wall helps with storage, I used to have stuff all over the floor along the perimeter...even more than I do now. I needed storage up high. I really really really like the room, I feel like I'm wrapped up in a Tiffany & Co box when I'm in there.

Just this morning I added the magnetic strip underneath the bottom shelf.

Behind the door.

Thanks for coming over!!!

Hello Moto!

Last night was SO clear and sunny and warm with no bugs and I sat outside and knit for 5 1/2 hours with my moto-knitter friends, and I rode my motorcycle there. Joy.

I may be without a computer for the weekend, I'm bringing my laptop to a friend for some hardware repair. I'm hoping he can fix it on the spot but I don't want to be too demanding. So please forgive me if I don't respond to emails and stuff.

Oh! I heard from a sock saviour yesterday!!!! My original sockapaloooza pal has apparently decided not to send me socks so she's been replaced, thank you sock saviour!!

Dye-O-Rama: of course you saw the yarn I received, I'm sending a package to my pal on Monday.
Candyswap: I mailed my candy quite a while ago, I have yet to get any. *UTA:I didn't mean to imply that my candyswapper is flaking on me, I was simply keeping y'all updated*
Fixation Ankle Sock KAL: Almost finished with the 1st sock!

Thank You Eleni!

I returned home tonight to a wonderful package from my dye-o-rama pal Eleni. She did a great job dyeing this yarn with Wilton food dye, I can't wait to start knitting with it to see how the colors work out. I'm thinking ankle socks will be perfect. The colors remind me of spring, especially of the iris' that are blooming right now. Eleni also tucked in a few treats for Casey, some for me & Kyle, a nice handwritten card and a very cool bluemoonfiberarts postcard. ThAnK YoU Eleni, you made my day!!!!!

Catch-Up

Oh boy, it feels like I've been neglecting my blog. Whew...where should I start? Well, the two socks I was contemplating ripping have met their fate. I've since restarted the Socks That Rock pair but casted on 8 fewer stitches. The yarn is pooling in a wicked way but I kind of like it.

Project Spectrum is proving to be a bit difficult for me since short of the blue truck I drive and blue jeans I wear, I'm not a huge fan of blue...so it seems. I tried to snap a few blue photos today and it was a tougher task than all the previous months.

For all you moto-knitters out there, Splatgirl started a cafepress store just for us!!! Thanks Splatgirl!

Today I dyed yarn for the Dye-O-Rama swap. It needs to be mailed to my pal by Monday, looks like I'll be right on time!
I managed to start a new pair of socks for the Cascade Fixation Ankle Socks KAL hosted by KnitPastis. My entry on that blog is here (scroll down past the sticky post).
Aside from that, I haven't been up to much else. I am anxiously awaiting my brother and his family who will be visiting in July...I can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My 1st Poppy

I planted a poppy plant last Fall although when it showed up this Spring, I had forgotten what it was that I had planted. That is until it bloomed a few days ago. Oh! Now I remember what it is, a poppy!! Since I took this photo on Wednesday, all the petals have fallen off. They are so fragile.

Kewl Kiwi

Ever since I saw the donut pincushions at Sewdorky (and now they have giant teeth-oh my) I've been meaning to make one or two. Santa brought me one for Christmas so I didn't need to stitch one but when Julie of BoogaJ started the pincushion challenge, I couldn't resist. The first theme was fruit. I immediately thought I'd like to make a kiwi and then I thought maybe a watermelon slice. I waited until the very last minute to stitch so I only had time for the kiwi. Considering this is my first felt pincushion (I've made a cross stitch / linen one) I'm fairly happy with it.

Julie is posting gallery photos today, go on and take a look. I wonder what June's theme will be???
