A Day Late & A Dollar Short

I am a little late with my March / April pincushion challenge but I just couldn't stand not to have made a pincushion for every theme so far, so I figured better late than never. I made this one using the pattern from Heather Bailey in Quilts and More. And since the theme was Eats, I used fabric covered in radishes! I probably could have stuffed the cushion a bit more but I ran out of poly-fill and wanted it done now so I did what I could. The giant button is from my Grandma's button box.

Rally Caps

I took my parents to the Twins game Saturday night for a late Mother's Day / early Father's Day gift. It was super fun, the game went to 13 innings! We wore our FREE rally caps for 5 innings straight but unfortunately they lost 9-8. There's nothing like a dome dog and a baseball game with your mom & dad!

The Day I Spill My Guts

Lori wants to know What is the name of the Dobie you grew up with?
Her name was Tina. She came to live with us soon after I was born and died on my brother's 15th birthday. She was a great dog, the one our family always compares our other dogs to.

Mrs. A asked If you could be anyone else, who would you be and why?
William Wegman because he makes his living working with Wiemaraners, my favorite dog of course. And he's a photographer, I'd like to be a famous photographer...like Ansel Adams. So I guess that's 2 answers.

Splatgirl is full of questions!
How did you get to be so organized and on top of stuff?
Probably from my mom. It's not as though I had organizing lessons or anything but it must be because of the way I was raised, right? Thanks mom!

What's the weirdest thing that's ever happened to you?

I was put into a trash can during 7th grade. I always got picked on. Maybe I'm better today for that.

What do you want to be like when your 70?
I'd like to be retired, fit, active and good looking. :-) We have to keep each other in line...remember??

And for a little more about me, I was tagged by Eleni from Holy Knit! Batman and pjbknit for the 7 random facts about yourself meme.

1) When seated in a restaurant, I prefer to be in the seat that has a view of the restaurant as opposed to a wall. Looking out a window is acceptable, there's just something about all the action being at my back that I don't like.
2)I am the meat police. I like meat a lot but I hate finding fat or gristle or anything weird in it so I pick it apart before I eat it. Strange enough, I love bologna and hot dogs (pork not beef however).
3)I have won several 1st place trophies for racing snowmobiles, all are bigger than any of Kyle's trophies ;-)
4)I once won a bicycle at a bus patrol picnic. I've been fairly lucky ever since so I'm not one of those people who say "I never win!".
5)As a kid, I used to read books in bed under the covers with a flashlight. I still do that except now I have a proper book light and I don't get completely under the covers but pretty darn close.
6)I don't like loud music. In fact, there's a certain range of sound that makes my ears "crackle".
7)I own near 100 Longaberger baskets. Mom...don't gasp...you have even more.

I think this meme has made its way across the blogosphere so I won't tag anyone. If you feel like doing this meme, just do it!

One Down One To Go

I have fallen in love with the Monkey pattern by Cookie A. I cast on for the 2nd sock right away and plan to knit a bit tonight while I watch the finales of Dancing with the St*rs and Her0es. I also love May sweeps...

Wouldn't You Like to Know?

I've recently been tagged for the 7 random things about me meme (which I'm working on) and thought maybe there are specific things all 3 of my readers would like to know about me. So go ahead and ask me anything you would like to know. I'll post the answers along with the meme on Friday. Oh gosh...what have I done?? ;-)

Llama Love

Splatgirl and I visited the local sheep & wool festival this past Saturday and had a pretty good time. We saw plenty of llamas including this one with quite the set of choppers. Unfortunately he needs a little more than a cleaning so I wasn't able to help him out.

This guy was cool. He really cared less that he had hay hanging from his mouth all day.

Check out the little goat babies! They were soooo cute & soft.
Goat? & babies
Of course I manged to buy something. In keeping up on my yarn buying hiatus (save the sockapalooza yarn) , I purchased some roving and a niddy noddy only. I hope to master the dang drop spindle I bought at last years Shepherd's Harvest so I thought this roving would rekindle my interest. Splatgirl seems to think I know how to do it, I just need practice. She always believes in me.

And we also bought kettle corn, like many other MN knit bloggers. A fair is not a fair without food.

I'm Thinking of my Sock Pal

Today for the first time in forever I went to my LYS and purchased yarn for my sockapalooza pal's socks. I chose Cherry Tree Hill in a super bright combination of pinks, yellow & orange. Considering my pal gave me full authority to pick any color and mentioned liking bright colors, I think I made a good choice. Now, I just have to decide what pattern to knit. Monkey, Embossed Leaves, Hedera, Pomatomus??
I have contacted my pal and received a response but no one out there has let me know they're knitting for me. This makes me just a tad nervous since I was snubbed during the last round (and was lovingly saved by pixeldiva!!). Please make your pals happy and just drop them a quick note to let them know you're out there somewhere.

Monkey Bandwagon

This past Saturday after indulging in some home cooked pad-thai and a mojito a la Splatgirl, I cast on for a Monkey sock. I'm using the yarn given to me by my Secret Pal 7, Brooklyn Handspun herself. So far, I'm loving the pattern and I'm contemplating giving these away, gasp!
Oh yea, only one more day to get in on the book frenzy.
