Happy Halloween!

Don't our Hallowigs look awesome? We originally knit these to match our motorcycles so we could wear them to our monthly city-wide get together First Thursdays. We all got super busy getting ready to race down in Iowa so we skipped First Thursdays in September. We also planned to wear them for Halloween but wondered what we would be. Then just last Wednesday, Nikki suggested we dress up as crayons for her annual Halloween bash. So we whipped up some other things (thanks to Lara's creativity) for our costumes and they turned out really cool! Notice our wristbands...they look like the ends of the crayon wrappers. I'm the one who got put in the box upside down...

Nikki & Ross' Halloween party was super fun. Tons of good food and drinks & treats like fig prosciutto pizza, fancy cheese tray, Reuben dip, chicken satay with peanut sauce, toilet water with sinkers, mojitos, wine, Special K bars, kitty litter cake (which looked real, I actually didn't eat any) and toffee cookies. Yum. I'm still full. We played Catch Phrase for a while and just jabbered and had fun. At about 3 am Nikki cooked up some pizzas and we had a little snack.

Posted by Hello We decided to name ourselves some clever new color names so we chose dreamsicle, limelicious and candy-apple.

So today's the day we have to turn our clocks back. Boo, I hate when we have to do this because now I'll go to work in the dark and come home in the dark. If there was a presidential candidate who promised to banish this time change, I'd vote for her. ;-)

Happy Halloween everyone!

Believe it? Or not?

This was the yarn I had left over from the Koigu & Kid Silk scarf. Can you even believe it? It's the world's smallest yarn ball! I love balling up my leftovers and putting them in a little basket for display, it reminds me of the old days of knitting.

Babble

Round 2. I just wrote an entire entry and lost it.
I am going to be super busy this week, at least for the beginning. BUT, by weeks end I will be wearing my new Hallowig along with my 2 friends Lara & Nikki. I hope to get a photo of us to show. I may also post photos of my yarn stash-Lara quit laughing. Today I picked up a book on my way to lunch marked FREE. It was a Book Crossing release!! I have released books but I have never come across one. The book I picked up is The Hichhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Has anyone read it? Is it good? I need a good book after reading this month's book club selection. It almost hurts to read this book, I'm just not into it at all. Lucky for me it's only 210 pages. Enough babbling for now. I'll leave you with the cover of Jessica's* scrapbook. Isn't she a doll?

*Spellcheck wanted me to replace Jessica's name with cheesecake. Odd.

Scrap & Scrabble

The scrapbook is finished! I made 19 pages in all. Whew...it was a lot of work but I had tons of fun, I love being creative. I'm sure going to miss it when I ship it to Hawaii on Monday morning. Remember I said I was hoping the book would be done today? Check out the time...
In the mail today I received 3 Scrabble stitch markers that I bought off eBay from Carolyn. They're uber cute. I love playing Scrabble but I can never find anyone else who does. Anyone, anyone??

2 down 3 to go

Yay! I have 2 finished projects! Casey was a good boy by allowing me to photograph him with one of them, and no I usually don't dress him up in silly clothes. As you can see, Fall is in full form here in Minnesota. A bit chilly & wet but very pretty. The scrapbook is coming along nicely and should be finished tonight while I watch game 1 of the World Series. I need to run to the local scrapbooking store for a few supplies in order to finish up. Kyle's been busy doing maintenance on my car (remember...it's 12 years old) I'm lucky that he's so handy. There's been a little knitting going on today but not a whole lot. I might have something to show later in the week but no promises. My friend Lara has a finished object too, gee I wish I could view it on her blog ;-).

TGIF

You'll have to wait until tomorrow for any photos of FO's (yes there is at least one) since I didn't have much natural light today for photos and I was a bit lazy. I did knit at Crafty CHIX just as soon as I finished my Green Curry Chicken with Vegetables over Jasmine Rice and Topless Apple Pie. Mmmm Mmmm good, thanks tons Lara! I have 6 pages finished in the scrapbook and just about 6 to go. Hopefully it will be finished sometime tomorrow. It's been so gloomy here for the last week and now today it's been spritzing and sprinkling since dawn. Yuck. Yesterday I taught my friend Kim to knit and I think she's getting the hang of it. I had to make one knitting house call this evening to get things straightened out but now she's back on track. Did anyone else laugh hysterically out loud last night during the Survivor pig wrangling? Funny stuff.

I'll leave you with the photo I have on my desktop. Yes Casey has a sweater, it gets cold up here in MN!

weDnEsdAY

Not much happening here. I spent an hour and a half last night on the scrapbook and finished 2 pages. Where do people find the time for this? Needless to say I haven't been knitting AT ALL. I might knit a little tomorrow on my lunch hour and tomorrow evening at Crafty CHIX. What's that? It's a group of friends who get-together every couple of weeks to craft, eat, talk, drink, etc. Lara is the founder & hostess and the best cook & treatie maker in the world. We always leave stuffed! It's nice to have a certain get-together with great friends, it's something to look forward to. Hopefully I'll have some progress to report by week's end. Since there's no FO to show I will leave you with another photo of my baby boy Casey...

This is Casey laying on the rug in my studio. I layed next to him with the camera turned sideways. Awww Posted by Hello
I'll fill you in a bit on Casey...
His middle name is Blue because when he was a puppy he had the brightest blue eyes ever.
He is 6 1/2 years old.
He sleeps on my bed in between Kyle & I.
He rings a bell to tell me he has to go outside.
He has the run of our house 24/7.
He loves our UPS driver, Mike.
He doesn't need a leash outside, he sticks right in our yard.
He has allergies that make his ears yuckky, we clean them weekly.
He lets me clean his teeth, picking and all.
He gets a little treat every time he comes in from outside.
If he's naughty, we tell him to sit in his corner and he knows right where to go.
He will jump in the bathtub on command.
He's up to date on his immunizations.
I call him Buddy or Baby most of the time, Kyle calls him Buddy most of the time.
Are you bored yet??
OK.

On the Needles

This is the Crusoe sock from Knitty.com knit with Koigu KPPPM. It's the first one of the pair and I had to fudge the pattern a bit so it would fit over my ankle. Isn't it just sick that all I need to do is graft the toe and I even have my needle right there??? Posted by Hello

This is my 2nd attempt at this scarf. The 1st time I knit it too wide and it was too dense. This time around I am using bigger needles-don't you just love those pink RedHeart needles?-and less stitches across. The yarn is Tahki Yarn Poppy and GGH Esprit. Posted by Hello

I'm knitting this scarf with a skein of Koigu KPPPM and Rowan Kidsilk Haze held together, it is as soft as it looks. I'm going to make a few of these for Christmas gifts this year since it's a quick knit. Posted by Hello

This is my lollipop sock, I'm not sure why I call it that. It's knit with Lana Grossa Meilenweit Cotton, one of my favorite sock yarns. It's my mindless knitting project when I'm bored with other things. Since this is the 1st sock, I may never have a pair.Posted by Hello

Fiona bag, need I say more. I have to say this has been a stumper for me. Unfortunately I'm knitting it as a gift so I must finish it but it's going really slow. I have ladders near a couple of the cables and the purling just isn't smooth like I wanted it to be. Posted by Hello

Stay tuned for some finished objects!

This wouldn't be a blog about my dog without a photo would it? Posted by Hello

I do it on eBay

Check out my eBay auctions...there must be something there that you need!

I've been knitting!

The wrist warmer whipped right up and it was fun too! It was my first attempt at intarsia knitting and I'm fairly pleased with how it turned out. However, I will not show you the backside. My cast-off is a bit tight so it's not too stretchy on that end. When I knit this again, I may try to knit it in the round since I'm not too fond of the seam either. I may not get much knitting done today since I have a pile of stuff to put on eBay and I need to work on a scrapbook I'm making for my 5 year-old niece. There's lots of good TV on tonight: Moto GP race, Vikings vs. Saints game and my new favorite show Desperate Housewives so maybe I'll knit then.

I.Need.Photos.

Newest addition to my stash Posted by Hello

I desperately felt like I needed some photos on my blog since that's my favorite part of visiting other blogs. I stopped in a local yarn store yesterday while out shopping with friends and picked up these few things. I'm going to use the bright pink and lime green Point for a pair of wrist warmers for me and a friend using the Powerful Wrist Protection pattern from the Stitch 'n Bitch book. As you can tell I have started the wrist warmer but I must TINK* because I wasn't reading the pattern close enough. The hand dyed red Nature Wool will be turned into a pair of felted mittens for moi. Must.Get.Knitting.

*TINK is a word my two good friends just introduced me to: it's knit backwards! Aren't they clever?

Maiden Blog

Welcome to my new blog where you'll probably learn more about me than you've ever wanted to know! Some of my friends say I'm obsessed with knitting, others say I'm obsessed with my dog Casey. These are the two things you'll read about the most on my blog. I'll try to throw in other things just to keep you interested.
Check back often!
