HaPpY HaLLoWeEn!

I've been knitting some felted pumpkins the last few days. And since they are 'harvest pumpkins', I don't feel bad not having them done for Halloween. I can't even believe how quick they are to knit.

I Can't Stop Sewing

I have so many sewing projects staring me in the face that I just can't keep myself away from the sewing machine. So forgive me if I bore you in the coming weeks with sewing projects since I want to blog about them here in order to remember the details for myself. I have done a little knitting and I will show it to you tomorrow.

The Quilt is Finished!

Last week I finished the wedding quilt with plenty of time to spare! The bride & groom loved it and I was happy to give it...even though I thought of stashing some money into a card several times so I could keep the quilt!

Made for: Lisa & Kevin's wedding - October 20, 2007

Splatgirl Swag

I received this awesome Splatgirl swag for my birthday this year from the designer herself, a flap bag with a matching wallet AND moo pocket. You must run to her etsy shop and get your own. Her sewing skills are superb and the fabrics are so yummy. That leather wallet down there? It smells like heaven on earth. Thank you SO much for the swag Splatgirl!

80 units

I went from 640 units (I miscalculated in the last post-oops) to 320 to 160 to 80. That's where this photo is. From 80 units I went down to 20 and now I have 1! Today I'll get the quilt sandwich made and start quilting it together. It looks like I just may have some time to spare!

Stacks

This is 640 squares which I'm making into a quilt for my cousin (I don't think she reads my blog *fingers crossed*) who is tying the knot in 9 days. So...this weekend it will be all quilting all the time in my house.

My 1st Marathon

No, I didn't run the marathon. I watched and cheered and cheered some more. We have never been to a marathon before and I'm sure it won't be the last time. We cheered and clapped our hearts out for complete strangers who appreciated it and even sometimes cheered back or pumped their arms up high with gratitude. It was a great experience. I think tonight I'll be yelling "Great job!", "Looking strong!", Way to go runners!" and clapping in my sleep.
Mile 4.5 Early AM
Congratulations to all the 10,000+ who braved this unseasonably hot and humid weather to run in the Twin Cities Marathon! Great job runners!

Indian Summer

Today (Kyle's birthday!) was SO warm for this time of year, 84 degrees when I took these photos at 5pm. Casey is really enjoying the warm weather and so am I.
Casey in October
I needed to do a little computer work this afternoon so I happily went outside. Hopefully tomorrow will be nice since it's the day of the Twin Cities Marathon. I have a few friends running in it so I'll be watching for them and cheering them on as I move my way around the course. How are you spending your weekend?

Socks 101

The first pair of socks I ever knit were this pair. The pair I still wear the most, my favorite pair. The pair I knit during a basic sock knitting class at a LYS. I thought the teacher was being so nonchalant about everything, didn't she know that knitting SOCKS was hard? The toughest thing EVER? How could she be talking about her daughter competing in a dance recital when I was supposed to be learning to knit the hardest thing in the world. Have you seen how complicated a heel gusset is? Jeez louise it's about a step behind rocket science.
1st Knit Socks
Little did I know that 4 years later I'd be able to knit socks in my sleep? That socks would be my absolute favorite thing to knit even though I don't crank them out super fast? The power of learning.

Yarn: Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock
Color: #90 Circus
Needles: Size #1 birch DPN's
Started: Sept 2003
Finished: late 2003
Knit for: Me!
