Sockapaloooza ! !
OK, maybe I have another question. I want to knit a nice pair of socks, more than just a typical ribbed sock so that's why I bought a monochromatic skein of yarn, no stripes going on here. I want a pattern to really stand out on the socks and not get eaten up by self striping / variegated yarn. I need pattern suggestions...please comment below ;-) And I thank you!

im gonna do jawalker for my person!
Ill be my first pair.
I was going to recommend Elfines as well, or the Pomatomus socks from the new Knitty (http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEwinter05/PATTpomatomus.html) if you want a challenge! You might also try looking for Nancy Bush's Knitting on the Road or her new Knitting Vintage Socks; they've both got a zillion beautiful sock patterns that are all in solid colors.
I speak German. ;-) Isn't it exciting to be in Sockapaloooza again? Seriously what did we do for fun before all this? hehe. Well, all the suggestions I was going to give you have been given. The only other book everybody else seems to really like is Sensational socks (haven't seen it myself though).
You picked out really yummy yarn!

One of my Olympic teammates speaks German - need something translated? Email me and I'll pass it on to her.
The two IK patterns I listed in the sidebar on my site (retro ribs and embossed leaves) are both really gorgeous.
Beautiful yarn you've chosen! (I think I actually have a hank of that in my stash.)
And I love the book Sensational Knitted Socks -- great lace and ribs that would look wonderful in a single color. Also, Fibertrends has good sock patterns.
The web socks pattern on the Interweave Knit subscriber only section (password is now available and is "cable") would look fantastic in this yarn.
If you look at Julie Boogaj blog, there is a page of free patterns that might be worth checking out.
I like Conway from Knitting on the Road for a "book" pattern.
