Recently my mom mentioned she wanted to make wontons, something we used to do occasionally with a recipe my aunt brought back from when she lived in Japan. This afternoon my mom came over and we whipped up a batch while watching the football game. The recipe is simple, the construction is putsy. We started by mixing the pork, onion, water chestnut, soy sauce, salt & pepper. Then we placed a dollop of pork mixture onto a wonton wrapper and folded them into tiny envelopes. We sealed them with a beaten egg and froze them on cookie sheets before we placed them in freezer bags. Thanks to my mom's quick math skills ;-) the recipe yielded us 15 dozen wontons. Plenty for the upcoming holiday season, they'll be a great time saving appetizer for all those last minute parties. Of course we had to try a few to make sure they were as good as we remembered, and they were. Thanks for the great idea mom!
I am a 30-something dental hygienist living in MN with my Weimaraner Casey, and missing my Boxer Flea. My husband Kyle is my best friend. I drive a 10 year old truck and a 9 year old motorcycle. My brother is currently serving in the US Air Force stationed in New Mexico. I love Rice Krispie bars, all things Tangerine/Mandarin Orange and Pistachio, Peanut M&M's, caramel, Jelly Bellys, comfortable shoes, cowboy/rodeo fabric, warm blankets, handmade quilts, soft pillows, really good chocolate and lazy days. I dislike litterbugs, dry hands, burned popcorn, slow drivers, below zero days and poor service & dirty silverware at restaurants. I'm currently enjoying my new Android phone, working on my UFO's and reading Recalculating on my nook.
I'm looking forward to Christmas!
